Nami Island (Namiseom)

This place is a tiny half-moon shaped island located in Chuncheon, South Korea, formed as it was inundated by the rising water of the North Han River as the result of the construction of Cheongpyeong Dam (청평댐) in 1944.

It was Tuesday and the weather was a bit fine compared the past weekend. Since Oppa was working, I decided to go to South Korea province alone, a bit far from Seoul. It took me 4 subway transfers, following the useful Seoul Subway App in my mobile phone. I visited 2 provinces: Gangwon and Gyeonggi.

I started my tour at 10:30 am after having my hotel buffet breakfast. To get to Namiseom, from Euljiro Sam-ga (where our hotel is located) you can ride the train Line 2 (green line) heading to Wangsimni, from there, you can transfer to Gyeongi Jungang Line (skyblue line) going to Cheongyangni Station, then transfer to Gyeongchun Line (gray line) going directly to Gapyeong Station where you can ride a tour bus to Namiseom, Petite France, Garden of morning calm etc.. I forgot the exact amount I paid for all the train rides.

It took me approximately 2 hours going to Namiseom from Seoul.

Gapyeong Station

When you reach Gapyeong Station, there are different transportation options going to the port area for Nami Island. I chose the Gapyeong City Tour Bus, for only 6000 Won. It will take you to different tourist spot destinations. You can get an unlimited ticket for one day, which you can buy from the driver.

Namiseom is very popular tourist spot because of the Korean Novela Winter Sonata (Endless Love).

You have to pay the entrance fee for 8,000 won at the Immigration Counter where you also have to present your passport for tourist.

The entrance fee includes the fairy boat going to the Island.

When I arrived at Namiseom, my reaction was daebak!! I noticed the snow everywhere.. Yeah it was winter but I have not seen snow in Seoul. I thought I will miss it, but thankfully I did not. Living in the tropical country will surely amazed seeing a snow for sure.

As I was running out of time, I was not able to go around the whole island. But, definitely, I will go back here. :)
